On 30 August, the Maison du Cyclisme Liège-Bastogne-Liège had the pleasure of welcoming the Freddy Boys and Girls. Wearing their striking red kit, the members of this cycle touring group had made a special trip from Aubel to Remouchamps by bike.

A visit celebrating a shared passion for cycling

For nearly 45 minutes, our visitors from Aubel explored the different areas of the Maison du Cyclisme. As knowledgeable cycling enthusiasts, they took a keen interest in the many exhibits tracing the history of Belgian and international cycling.

The Freddy Boys and Girls particularly admired several iconic items from our collections:

Curious and enthusiastic, the cyclists asked plenty of questions throughout their visit.

An exhibition dedicated to cycling in Africa and the Caribbean

The group also discovered our temporary exhibition dedicated to cycling in Africa and the Caribbean. They were particularly impressed by Biniam Girmay’s magnificent bike, as well as the bicycle on which Étienne Vanneste crossed the African continent almost 50 years ago.

Another item that caught their eye was the trophy recently brought back from the Tour Cycliste International de la Guadeloupe by Johan Meens. A lovely local connection for our visitors, as the rider also comes from the wider Aubel area.

Thank you for this wonderful visit from Aubel!

Our warmest thanks to the Freddy Boys and Girls for their visit, curiosity and enthusiasm. Their time with us perfectly illustrates the ties between the Maison du Cyclisme and cycling enthusiasts across the region.
