The Maison du Cyclisme welcomes Rik Verbrugghe on 17 November for a talk about his career and his many projects in cycling. An opportunity to discover the journey of this former Belgian champion, who went on to become a team manager and national coach.
A winner of La Flèche Wallonne and a stage of the Tour de France, a wearer of the pink jersey at the Giro and a former Belgian time trial champion, Rik Verbrugghe has left his mark on Belgian cycling. Originally from Tienen and now based in Chaudfontaine, he continued his involvement in the peloton after his racing career, becoming a manager of professional teams.
Belgian national coach in 2019 and 2020, he notably supported Wout van Aert at the World Championships in Imola, where the Belgian rider won two silver medals.
Today, Rik Verbrugghe is involved in numerous initiatives: an accommodation centre with hypoxic rooms in La Gleize, the Remco Evenepoel Academy, partnerships with the Qatar cycling federation, punditry for RTBF, helping to establish cycling races and, most recently, the creation of a new under-23 team, Color-Code FTP+.
Join us at the Maison du Cyclisme in Remouchamps to go behind the scenes of his career and discuss his projects.
